MAXWELL PEARCEMaxwell Pearce is a mixed-media artist whose practice emerges directly from his parallel career as a professional basketball player. A member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Pearce approaches art through the physical intelligence of sport—movement, repetition, discipline—transforming materials drawn from athletic life such as shoelaces, jerseys, and basketball leather into intricately constructed compositions. Through portraiture and symbolic imagery, his work reflects on Black identity and cultural legacy. These works translate the culture of the court into a tactile visual language, exploring the identities and narratives carried beneath uniforms and public performance while foregrounding the human stories that persist beyond the arena.
